    2. Meeting prior to start - Additional Housing options
    K Kate Boka 🗿 Staff Apr 22, 2026

    Hi!

If you're not staying in the dorms, you can just arrive to the Intensive for the first day of classes. The schedule will be finalized and posted in June, but usually classes will start at 10am and on the first day we usually have a welcome meeting that morning around 9:30am before starting dance placements. So if you plan on a 9am/9:15am arrival the first day you should be in good shape!

And if you're not using IAMT housing, you could consider checking out the Housing Channel on this Community board - that is where our full time students and alumni post for available summer sublets. Sometimes there are even full apartments available or multiple rooms in one apartment if a parent will be coming with their child. Other options in the area are The Edge Hotel is the closest - 5 blocks away, the Radio Hotel is just a bit further at 181st St. You could also or you could look at hotels slightly north of the city (Yonkers, Hastings, something off the Henry Hudson Parkway) or just over the GW Bridge in NJ (Fort Lee) if you will have a car with you. And of course, any hotel in NYC is also an option - we'd recommend something on the west side of Manhattan, though for the easiest commute.

    2. Unaccompanied students
    K Kate Boka 🗿 Staff Apr 2, 2026

Hi Terra - Some parents do accompany their students to and from the Intensive and some students travel solo. Some parents travel with their student on the way in and they fly home on their own. If you're not able to come with your child, airport transport is not included with the program fees, but there are two options to consider to ease any transportation concerns. 1) Students can connect with other Summer Intensive classmates via the My Class tab on their portal or by posting in the Summer Intensive Channel here on IAMT Community and perhaps coordinate flight plans - if several students are arriving at the same airport within a certain amount of time, they may be able to meet up and travel together to the dorms in a group. 2) If you prefer more supervision, we can offer an IAMT Travel Chaperone (one of our college age full time students/alumni) who can meet your child at the airport and get them in an Uber to the dorms, where they will be met by our staff and RAs on move in day. There is a small additional fee for this service. Please reach out to admissions@iamt-nyc.com for more details if you're interested.

    2. Two week Summer option
    K Kate Boka 🗿 Staff Mar 4, 2026

    Hi Larisa -
Yes, you can certainly switch sessions, as long as there is still room in the session that you want to switch to. At this time, there is still room in the 2nd two week session, so you should be able to make the change. On the APPLICATIONS tab on your daughters portal, you should see a box called "Summer Schedule" - your original session selection should be reflected there. It is a dropdown box and if you click on it you should be able to select the 2nd two week session instead and proceed with enrollment from there. If you have any trouble, please email admissions@iamt-nyc.com and we can make the change for you on our end.

    2. Wednesday’s Schedule 7-9-25
    K Kate Boka 🗿 Staff Jul 8, 2025

Hi Michelle - give a check to your email-we sent one out yesterday with instructions. But details are below-

Today we will be handing out the tickets at the front desk. Once you have your ticket you are responsible for getting it to the theater safely, we do not have a way to replace a lost ticket.

Students who are not staying in the dorms will meet us at the theatre. At 1pm Gabi and Sam will be outside of the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W 45th St, New York, NY 10036). All students must check in with them before 1:45pm.

All non-dorm students must come check in with Sam/Gabi before the show and check out with them after the show.

The show is approx. 2h 25m, so we should be all done around 4:30pm.

If you have any questions please let us know!

    Hi there!
You can ship packages to the Towers, but be sure to include "IAMT Summer Intensive" as part of the address, since she doesn't have an official mailbox there. And I'd recommend your daughter connect with her roommates about bringing various essentials if she hasn't already - I believe she'll be joining some girls who are there for all 4 weeks, so they may have some things in place already. You may find it's easier to order a bedroom trashcan from Target same day delivery once you're here rather than ship one, for example. The rooms are cleaned professionally between students/programs, but they do need to be able to clean their bathrooms/kitchens while they are there - a container of clorox wipes might be all that is needed. I'm not sure why Sam and Gabi's emails have bounced back - they should be correct! Feel free to reach out to admissions@iamt-nyc.com for any other specific questions!

    Hi Catherine-
It’s up to your preference and how your schedule is each day. Most students might opt to dress for dance and you can stay in those clothes for the day if you like or bring something to change into if your afternoon is more voice/acting focused and you’d like to be out of sweaty dance clothes for a few hours.

Alumni, feel free to weigh in on what you find works best, too!

    Hi Heidi -

You should have received an email with first day details a couple of weeks ago. I will reach out and make sure it got through to you.

There will be a welcome meeting on Monday (first day) there is a welcome meeting at 930am tomorrow on the first day, then the students will go right into dance placements and be off to the races from there. You'll be coming to 3835 Broadway, 2nd floor and we recommend arriving about 15 minutes before the meeting to get acclimated. Classes end at 4:40pm each day. Please feel free to shoot us an email if you have any other questions! (admissions@iamt-nyc.com)

Hi John - Not usually until the second half of the Intensive, or for the Guest Artist masterclass (week 2). We'll let them know in advance when headshots are needed. We may talk in general about resume recommendations/formatting before that though, so if it's easy enough to have a copy or two in her book just in case, that doesn't hurt.

    Hi Craig -

We will have class on the 4th of July! Classes will end at 440pm that day as usual and students are free to make their plans from there. And weekends are always free for the students to make their own plans - with parental permission, of course!

Let me know if we can answer anything else!

Can you possibly provide the name (and maybe link) for the grocery store the RAs will take students to?

Sure thing! Super Food Town of Washington Heights is adjacent to IAMT Studios - right around the corner on the same block. RAs will escort students there after class a few times a week and then students can carry any groceries home with them to the dorms (an extra tote bag might be a good thing to back for ease of grocery transport). Here is the link - https://www.foodtown.com/

    Hope this helps!

    2. Meals during summer intensive
    K Kate Boka 🗿 Staff Jun 4, 2025

    Hi Ginger -

    Thanks for chiming in, Grace!

Yes, students are responsible for their own meals throughout the Intensive. Since our Summer Intensive is modeled after our full time Professional Training Program, where we try to give students a real sense of what it's like to be an artist in NYC (living in apartments instead of dorms and learning how to cook, clean, do their own laundry and generally "adult" while pursuing their art). The idea being, when they are done with the full time program, they already know how to do life in NYC and can just focus on auditioning and booking work. In the Summer Intensive, we try to offer glimpses of those same principals too - and handling their own meals is one of the ways we do it.

The kitchenette in the dorms includes a full fridge, stove top and microwave. However, there are no plates, utensils, cups, pots/pans, paper towels, cooking utensils, serving bowls, napkins, trash bags, trash cans, dish soap, or even ice cube trays (!) included, so students usually coordinate with their roommates and divide up how to cover those essentials in the kitchen. You can plan to bring some food basics with you on move in day (cereal, granola bars/power bars, PB&J supplies, boxes of pasta/mac& cheese etc). And many students do doordash/uber eats for meals at the dorms as well. Students can either bring their lunch to the studios each day or go out to grab lunch in the neighborhood. There are multiple fast food places within a block or two of the studios. And there are indeed grocery runs every week to pick up whatever is needed throughout their time with us.

    I hope this helps!

    2. Scheduling
    K Kate Boka 🗿 Staff May 19, 2025

    Hi Manuel -

The full schedule for the summer is still being finalized and will be posted on that schedule tab once it is ready - usually early-mid June. The schedule tab is empty currently, as our full time program just concluded for the semester.

But overall I can share that classes are from 10am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. The first day of the Intensive (June 30) will start with a welcome meeting (historically at 9:30am) and then we will jump right into dance placements. The final day of the Intensive (July 25) will be a half day, with classes ending around 1pm/130pm so that students can get to their trains/planes and start their travel home. This summer (2025) we will see our Broadway show as a group on July 9 and students will have the chance to audition for the agent/casting director likely during the 3rd or 4th week - those dates will be finalized very shortly.

We'll send out an email to all enrolled Summer Intensive students by end of May/early June with all the final details you'll need to prepare. And you can always ask questions here or email admissions@iamt-nyc.com with any questions in the meantime!
