- Meals during summer intensive
Kate BokaStaff
Jun 4, 2025 Hi Ginger -
Thanks for chiming in, Grace!
Yes, students are responsible for their own meals throughout the Intensive. Since our Summer Intensive is modeled after our full time Professional Training Program, where we try to give students a real sense of what it's like to be an artist in NYC (living in apartments instead of dorms and learning how to cook, clean, do their own laundry and generally "adult" while pursuing their art). The idea being, when they are done with the full time program, they already know how to do life in NYC and can just focus on auditioning and booking work. In the Summer Intensive, we try to offer glimpses of those same principals too - and handling their own meals is one of the ways we do it.
The kitchenette in the dorms includes a full fridge, stove top and microwave. However, there are no plates, utensils, cups, pots/pans, paper towels, cooking utensils, serving bowls, napkins, trash bags, trash cans, dish soap, or even ice cube trays (!) included, so students usually coordinate with their roommates and divide up how to cover those essentials in the kitchen. You can plan to bring some food basics with you on move in day (cereal, granola bars/power bars, PB&J supplies, boxes of pasta/mac& cheese etc). And many students do doordash/uber eats for meals at the dorms as well. Students can either bring their lunch to the studios each day or go out to grab lunch in the neighborhood. There are multiple fast food places within a block or two of the studios. And there are indeed grocery runs every week to pick up whatever is needed throughout their time with us.
I hope this helps!

- Scheduling

May 19, 2025 Hi Manuel -
The full schedule for the summer is still being finalized and will be posted on that schedule tab once it is ready - usually early-mid June. The schedule tab is empty currently, as our full time program just concluded for the semester.
But overall I can share that classes are from 10am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. The first day of the Intensive (June 30) will start with a welcome meeting (historically at 9:30am) and then we will jump right into dance placements. The final day of the Intensive (July 25) will be a half day, with classes ending around 1pm/130pm so that students can get to their trains/planes and start their travel home. This summer (2025) we will see our Broadway show as a group on July 9 and students will have the chance to audition for the agent/casting director likely during the 3rd or 4th week - those dates will be finalized very shortly.
We'll send out an email to all enrolled Summer Intensive students by end of May/early June with all the final details you'll need to prepare. And you can always ask questions here or email admissions@iamt-nyc.com with any questions in the meantime!

May 12, 2025 Hi there!
Move in on Sunday July 13 will be from 10am-4pm and there will be a 7pm meeting with the RA's for those newly arriving students to review rules and policies. There's no hard "out" time for parents on move in day, so it will depend on what time you all arrive and how long it takes to get her in and settled. But I'd estimate by 5pm or so, most parents are out of the building. Weekends are free time for the students, so there won't be any organized IAMT activities to connect her with, but there will be other students moving in that day as well and she'll likely meet many of the 4 week students as they are hanging out at the dorms as well. If she has a roommate request, there's a spot on her portal to make that request. No different policies from the 4 week students. Sometimes 2 week students are put together with other 2 week students their age and sometimes they will be mixed in with 4 week students - it just depends on how the numbers work out. But usually, our blocks of rooms are all together (sometimes on 2 different floors), so she should be right in the mix with everyone else. Let me know if we can answer anything else!

- Roommate Assignments for Summer
Kate BokaStaff
May 8, 2025 Hi Sienna -
We are working on those now and should have them finalized in the next few weeks. They should be posted to your portal by the end of May, if not before! If you have a roommate request, there's a place to let us know that on your portal as well. Let us know if we can help with any other questions!

- Summer Housing Questions!!!
Kate BokaStaff
May 5, 2025 Hi Catherine,
You can certainly make a roommate request - once you enroll there is a place to do that on the portal. We do our very best to honor roommate requests and most of the time are able to, though we are not 100% able to guarantee them.
And for safety's sake, this year the rules and curfews will apply to all students regardless of age. You can have written permission to be out later to see shows etc, but out of an abundance of caution, we do ask all students to follow the rules and curfews that are set.
May 1 was the deadline to confirm a spot in the dorms for sure, but we do still have a few spots remaining, so it's not too late! Let us know what else we can help with!

- Summer Intensive Last day
Kate BokaStaff
Apr 16, 2025 It varies year to year and usually depends on a student's age (younger students might be more likely to get their own housing with a parent, while those 15+ might be more likely to opt for the dorms). It roughly ends up being about half and half or maybe slightly more than half elect to stay in the dorms.

- Summer Intensive Last day
Kate BokaStaff
Apr 14, 2025 Hi Karen -
Classes usually wrap up by 1pm on the final day (July 25 this year). Then students who are staying in the dorms can head back to the dorms to collect their things and must be out by 5pm. If she's not staying in the dorms, she can comfortably be heading to the airport anytime after 130pm. Hope this helps!

Summer Intensive
Mar 9, 2025 The Summer IntensiveIt varies a bit, but usually we are able to accept between 80 and 100 students to the Summer Intensive each year. However, with 3 different program options, not all of them are there at the same time. Last summer I believe we had about 50-60 students in the building on any given week. Those students were divided into 3 dance levels and then traveled to their other classes with their dance level. So usually about 20-25 students in a class on average, give or take. I hope this helps!

Feb 27, 2025 Hi Ava -
Yes, check out the Summer Intensive Handbook in the "Paperwork" tab on your portal. Page 2 of the Handbook should give a complete list of what to bring and what is provided. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Feb 25, 2025 Hi Hayden -
Sure thing! Here is the schedule from last year as a sample. A reminder, students travel to their classes with their dance level, so just pick a level you see here (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) and follow that Level's schedule.

- Class placements
Kate BokaStaff
Feb 24, 2025 Hi Catherine -
There is a dance placement on the first day of the Intensive and then you travel to your other classes with your dance level. There is no placement for singing/acting classes - dance is the only leveled discipline, so class age range is mixed. We do have many 17-19 year olds who attend each summer, though, so there should be plenty of other students your age. I hope this helps!

Sure thing! Super Food Town of Washington Heights is adjacent to IAMT Studios - right around the corner on the same block. RAs will escort students there after class a few times a week and then students can carry any groceries home with them to the dorms (an extra tote bag might be a good thing to back for ease of grocery transport). Here is the link - https://www.foodtown.com/
Hope this helps!
