May 12, 2025 Hi there!
Move in on Sunday July 13 will be from 10am-4pm and there will be a 7pm meeting with the RA's for those newly arriving students to review rules and policies. There's no hard "out" time for parents on move in day, so it will depend on what time you all arrive and how long it takes to get her in and settled. But I'd estimate by 5pm or so, most parents are out of the building. Weekends are free time for the students, so there won't be any organized IAMT activities to connect her with, but there will be other students moving in that day as well and she'll likely meet many of the 4 week students as they are hanging out at the dorms as well. If she has a roommate request, there's a spot on her portal to make that request. No different policies from the 4 week students. Sometimes 2 week students are put together with other 2 week students their age and sometimes they will be mixed in with 4 week students - it just depends on how the numbers work out. But usually, our blocks of rooms are all together (sometimes on 2 different floors), so she should be right in the mix with everyone else. Let me know if we can answer anything else!

- Roommate Assignments for Summer
Kate BokaStaff
May 8, 2025 Hi Sienna -
We are working on those now and should have them finalized in the next few weeks. They should be posted to your portal by the end of May, if not before! If you have a roommate request, there's a place to let us know that on your portal as well. Let us know if we can help with any other questions!

- Summer Housing Questions!!!
Kate BokaStaff
May 5, 2025 Hi Catherine,
You can certainly make a roommate request - once you enroll there is a place to do that on the portal. We do our very best to honor roommate requests and most of the time are able to, though we are not 100% able to guarantee them.
And for safety's sake, this year the rules and curfews will apply to all students regardless of age. You can have written permission to be out later to see shows etc, but out of an abundance of caution, we do ask all students to follow the rules and curfews that are set.
May 1 was the deadline to confirm a spot in the dorms for sure, but we do still have a few spots remaining, so it's not too late! Let us know what else we can help with!

- Summer Intensive Last day
Kate BokaStaff
Apr 16, 2025 It varies year to year and usually depends on a student's age (younger students might be more likely to get their own housing with a parent, while those 15+ might be more likely to opt for the dorms). It roughly ends up being about half and half or maybe slightly more than half elect to stay in the dorms.

- Summer Intensive Last day
Kate BokaStaff
Apr 14, 2025 Hi Karen -
Classes usually wrap up by 1pm on the final day (July 25 this year). Then students who are staying in the dorms can head back to the dorms to collect their things and must be out by 5pm. If she's not staying in the dorms, she can comfortably be heading to the airport anytime after 130pm. Hope this helps!

Summer Intensive
Mar 9, 2025 The Summer IntensiveIt varies a bit, but usually we are able to accept between 80 and 100 students to the Summer Intensive each year. However, with 3 different program options, not all of them are there at the same time. Last summer I believe we had about 50-60 students in the building on any given week. Those students were divided into 3 dance levels and then traveled to their other classes with their dance level. So usually about 20-25 students in a class on average, give or take. I hope this helps!

Feb 27, 2025 Hi Ava -
Yes, check out the Summer Intensive Handbook in the "Paperwork" tab on your portal. Page 2 of the Handbook should give a complete list of what to bring and what is provided. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Feb 25, 2025 Hi Hayden -
Sure thing! Here is the schedule from last year as a sample. A reminder, students travel to their classes with their dance level, so just pick a level you see here (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) and follow that Level's schedule.

- Class placements
Kate BokaStaff
Feb 24, 2025 Hi Catherine -
There is a dance placement on the first day of the Intensive and then you travel to your other classes with your dance level. There is no placement for singing/acting classes - dance is the only leveled discipline, so class age range is mixed. We do have many 17-19 year olds who attend each summer, though, so there should be plenty of other students your age. I hope this helps!

Yes, definitely. We will connect you with your roommates about a month before the Intensive begins so you all can get to know each other and coordinate anything you might like to bring with you!

- Supervision and meals
Kate BokaStaff
Jan 24, 2025 Hi Heather!
After classes end for the day, students staying in the CCNY housing are escorted back to the dorms by our IAMT RAs who live with them in the dorms for the month. After classes and on weekends, if they are leaving the dorms for any reason, students may only do so with written permission from a parent/guardian (if under 18) and no one is ever permitted to leave the dorms on their own. Students must always travel in pairs or groups and must communicate with the RAs about their plans every time they leave the dorms. On weeknights, students usually hang out at the dorms (there is a lounge area), go to dinner or relax - they are usually tired! On weekends, students may explore the city, go to Central Park, see a Broadway show or whatever they'd like to do (again, only in groups and only with written permission). We also ask for "proof of life" photos, to confirm students are where they have told us they were going. There is a curfew at the dorms each night as well.
Meals are not provided, so each student is responsible for their own food during the Intensive. Each suite in the dorms has a kitchen (full size fridge, cooktop and microwave provided). Meal delivery services are also a popular option while at the dorms. During the week students can either bring their own lunches (there is a fridge available for storage) or they can go out to get lunch in the neighborhood. There are many fast food options near the IAMT studios, including several grocery stores. Usually once a week, the RAs will escort dorm students to the grocery store after classes so they can stock up on supplies. This is all part of our philosophy of giving students a taste of what life as an artist in the city is like, dipping a toe into independence and being responsible for the "adulting" part of life that will come after high school.
Let us know if we can help with any other questions!

- Summer program 2wk vs 4 wk
Kate BokaStaff
Jan 6, 2025 Hi Anastassia -
Yes, you can adjust your program selection as needed. So if you pick the 1st 2 weeks and end up wanting to extend to 4 weeks, you can do that or if you need to switch to the 2nd 2 weeks due to your schedule, you can certainly make that change as well. We understand that summer schedules may not be totally clear far in advance, if you are accepted to the Summer Intensive, we will work with you to adjust your schedule if you need to change or extend it.
Just something to keep in mind about the two week sessions as you’re deciding on dates. We do find most students get the most out of the 4 week program, but certainly understand that students have busy summer schedules, so we do have many who come for 2 weeks instead. Those who come for the first two weeks have the benefit of starting together with everyone else but sometimes can feel like they are just getting started by the time the two weeks are over. Those who come to the 2nd two weeks can feel like they are jumping in head first and playing catch up initially, but usually settle in after a few days. The other thing to consider is that the agent and casting director usually come the second two weeks, just to give the students time to prepare. We also see a Broadway show with the students and while we try to put that during Week 2 so first 2 weeks students are able to attend, sometimes we are restricted by ticket availability on that, so that’s not guaranteed.
I hope this helps!

I believe this post was from last summer and is not currently active, as I know Anjali is set with a roommate. Sorry about that!
